Article I – Name
The name of the association will be Seminole Lake Country Club Women’s Golf Association, hereafter referred to as SLCC-WGA.
Article II – Membership
SLCC-WGA shall be composed of women with a golf membership in the Seminole Lake Country Club.
All WGA members are required to have an established GHIN Handicap. If a GHIN Handicap Index has been established at a course other than SLCC, the member must submit her GHIN Number along with the name of the club (and state, if not in Florida) to the Event Chairperson.
New WGA members who do not have a GHIN Handicap Index through the World Handicap System shall establish one after submitting a minimum of three (3) 18-hole scores.
Article III – Dues
The golfing season will be from November 1 through the end of April of the following year.
The amount of dues will be decided upon by the Executive Committee prior to April 1 of each year. All dues should be paid by April 30 of each year for the upcoming golf season.
Article IV – Officers
The Executive Committee of this Association shall be: President, Past President (ex-officio), Vice-President, Treasurer, Secretary, Event Chairperson and Rules Chairperson.
All Officers and Chairpersons shall serve for the fiscal year. The fiscal year shall be May 1 to April 30 inclusive.
The Executive Committee for the next fiscal year will be announced to all WGA Members by April 30.
Article V – Duties of Officers and Chairpersons
Section I
The President shall preside at all SLCC-WGA meetings and shall conduct a General Membership business meeting as needed.
Section II
The Vice-President shall perform the duties of the President in her absence.
Section III
The Treasurer shall keep a record of all monies received and disbursed. She shall disburse funds as directed by the SLCC-WGA. The Treasurer shall perform the duties of the President and/or the Vice-President in case of their absence.
Section IV
The Secretary shall keep minutes of all meetings of the SLCC-WGA and handle all correspondence as required. She shall give a report of the minutes at the regularly scheduled SLCC-WGA meetings.
Section V
The Event Chairperson shall be responsible for planning and conducting all golf competition in the SLCC-WGA. She shall prepare a schedule of events for the golfing season for the annual Directory. She shall be responsible for distribution of prizes after all SLCC-WGA events.
Section VI
The Rules Chairperson shall be responsible for making sure all events are played in accordance with the USGA Rules of Golf and the Local Rules adopted by SLCC and the SLCC-WGA. Any questions or disputes pertaining to these rules will be brought to the Rules Chairperson for clarification and resolution.
Article VI – Events
Section I:
Awards in the weekly tournaments shall be distributed proportionate to the number of participants in each division and at the discretion of the Event Chairperson.
If and when weather conditions have limited the field for the weekly events to less than originally scheduled, the quorum needed to constitute the event and to award points shall be no less than 50% of the total number of members who had signed up for the day’s event.
Section II:
To be eligible to play in the SLCC-WGA Championship Tournament, all participants must be active members of the current season’s WGA, have dues paid up-to-date, and have played in at least six (6) league-scheduled events.
Article VII – Parliamentary Rules
Parliamentary Rules contained in Robert’s Rules of Order shall govern this Association in all applicable cases consistent with these By-Laws.
These By-Laws may be amended by a two-thirds (2/3) vote of SLCC-WGA members, provided the amendment has been submitted at a prior meeting, posted in the SLCC Women’s Locker Room, or sent via email.
A quorum is based on attendance, including email votes received by the meeting date. Members unable to attend may vote via email.
Article VIII – Distribution of Treasury Funds
In the event that the SLCC-WGA dissolves, any remaining funds will be donated to a local women’s charitable organization chosen by the Executive Committee.
